The true meaning of family

When you ask kids nowadays what is the meaning of family, many are lost. Is it a collection of individuals sharing genetic commonalities or people who have chosen to live together or were brought together by circumstances? Go ahead – ask kids and hear the surprising answers they come up with.

But however you define them, families are strong when they have a set of shared values that everyone knows and abides by. And making them visible to kids speeds up the creation of cohesion and harmony in the family – and is often the recommendation of experts on what makes kids and families succeed.  See our post on best books for successful parenting.

So what are yours?

One could be the Top 10 Essential Family Values of the Zen Family, or something simpler like “Live, Love, Learn, Laugh.” that Lykki uses at the corporate office, but is applicable to the family as well.

What ways have you found to make your families stronger? Please share! And Happy Family Day to all.
